Wild fig preserve in syrup (270g) – Ergon
This kind of dessert is called “Spoon sweet” because it is served with a spoon as a gesture of hospitality. It was and still is, served with a cup of Greek coffee and a glass of water when a friend or acquaintance is visiting the house.
Whole wild figs from Macedonia in Greece, are boiled together with sugar, honey, and lemon juice. They are made the traditional way, cooked in small copper pots, just like our grandmothers used to make them. They can also be served on cakes, in crepes, with ice cream, with greek yogurt (ideal combination!), or just plain.
Keep in a shady and cool place. After opening, keep in the refrigerator for 4 weeks.
